Black History Month

black-history-month

February is here and that means Black History month is upon us. We at Upperthinking take great pride in this month because we ourselves are African and we appreciate all the people of color, past and present, who represent positive significance and black excellence. So to show our appreciation, throughout the month we’re going to be posting spotlights on intersting black people who go under the radar. We already should know about the past’s Martin Luther King, Malcom X and the present’s Oprah and President Obama. Who does today’s spotlight rest on? Find out after the jump!

TONY DUNGY

In an NFL league full of predominately white head coaches, Tony Dungy was not only successful as a winning NFL coach with a career record of 139-69, he was the first black  coach to win a Superbowl (XLI) coaching for the Indianapolis Colts. He also won the Superbowl (XIII) as player for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
